One of the the things I enjoy most about motherhood is watching my children grow intellectually (IE: the connections they make without my prodding.) My son is making the simplest of connections but they highly amuse me when they come up-when someone sneezes he says “God Bless you *fill in the sneezers name.*” The first time he did it I was like wow he is making these connections by himself because I don’t make it a point to say to ask him to say him say “Bless you” like I do with please and thank you. However he will stand there in your face and say “Bless you” until you acknowledge it with a “thank you.” He expects his thank you as much as I expect him to say it.

My daughter’s recent connection that amazed me concerned the baby. She very quietly watched me fill a glass with ginger ale and ice then just as I raised it to my lips she asked “Mom, doesn’t the baby get everything you eat and isn’t soda bad for you? Do you think you should be drinking soda?”

It makes me wonder about the things that go on in their little minds that they don’t express-although from my experience they don’t hold back much-no matter what company we are in…

A 60th Anniversary and a 6th Anniversary October 6, 2007

Last weekend we celebrated a 60th anniversary for my husband’s bar (his grandparents came from Poland and opened it) and this weekend my husband and I celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary. Time has changed a lot. For the bar when it opened in 1947 it has gone from having a separate entrance and lunch area for the ladies and from what I hear the men used to pee in the trough under the bar at that time (I can not get a real confirmation on this) to the current almost anything goes of today(except the peeing is reserved to the restrooms in modern day.) I noted the new “young” crowd. The “young” crowd that we called “young” when Joey & I started dating are now the age we were back then. What crowd does that make my husband and I now? Yikes! Is that the middle aged crowd-no way! Sure enough even in the last 6 years our lives have changed drastically with 2 young children and a house and having moved 3 or 4 times. I am sure our wonderful moving crew has an accurate count on that :o ) Anyway-good times and with a couple parties and a wedding for my brother and his fiance coming up very soon more good times to look forward to! AND NOW I must run out and get a card for my husband-betting he hasn’t got mine yet-we’re a match made in heaven.

GO PHILLIES October 2, 2007

I will always have a soft spot for the Phillies. When I was younger I would often sit at the coffee table in my grandparent’s den doing homework while my grandfather watched the Phillies game. Every once in a while he would turn the TV off and say he was through, he wasn’t going to watch them anymore. A short time later he would be right back in front of the game. He was a loyal Phillies fan and I wish he could have seen them win yesterday.

I have to say the last inning I (and I am not in any way a close follower of baseball) was on my feet-nervous and excited.
