To Thine Own Self Be True

A Domestic Goddess’ Sporadic, No Rhyme, No Reason Ramblings

I have a little more to say about the election November 9, 2008

This is from a comment I made on my friends site-after reading another bloggers entry I felt I had to place this thought here as well (make sense??)

“I am a little behind in blog reading but I finally came around to support Obama-I was a little hesitant and voted for Clinton in the primaries BUT not so hesitant I was going to support McCain. I was either voting for Obama or no one. It took a long time but I finally got that “yes I can really support this candidate” feeling. I really hope that republican’s can come around and support him. I try to support no matter who wins-OK the last eight years-who could? I did try at first with Bush-but thank heavens his term is O-V-E-R! To be honest all the republican “scare” tactics were the start to push me in Obama’s favor. I thought-they really must see something great in Obama to go so far and so low. I agree with you not to be cliche either but I love the Yes We Can slogan-finally something to feel good about!”

Of coarse I guess I could have voted for the good ‘ol stand by Nader…gotta give kudos to the old man for trying for so long and so hard!

How Sweet It Is November 5, 2008

Watching the numbers in the election this year was the first time I actually felt excited. Prior to this I felt hopeful but this year I was like World Series excited. I was glad my candidate won not just for me but for my family and friends, for my brother who I know worked his ass off in his corner of the world for Obama and really for the entire country.  Now, I know there are people who felt this wasn’t the right choice and are, currently, disappointed but I hope they won’t be in the long run. Seriously though, it was something to be a part, however small, of a true historical event. I will never forget taking my daughter and niece with me to the polls and having them help me push the green “vote” button. I won’t forget watching the numbers start to come in at my Aunt’s house with my Aunt and cousin. DIscussing with my mom how quickly and smoothly, at least in our neck of the woods, voting went. I certainly will remember sitting in “my” chair holding my youngest seeing Obama win.   Then talking on the phone with my best friend as McCain made his concession speech. I suppose too I will remember feeling a little bad for the losing side because I know how hard he worked and all the people that supported him worked to run his campaign. Still, it’s great to be on the winning team for a change!
