My best friend’s mom, after 3 battles with cancer, got a clean bill of health today!!!
Gone from my Sight October 26, 2007
Every so often I come across words written and or spoken that really affect me…this piece is one of them:
Gone From My Sight
by Henry Van Dyke
I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side,
spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and starts
for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck
of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
Then, someone at my side says, “There, she is gone”Gone where?
Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast,
hull and spar as she was when she let my side.
And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port. Her diminished size is in me — not in her.
And, just at the moment when someone says, “There, she is gone,”
there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices
ready to take up the glad shout, “Here she comes!”
Shultz for Carlisle October 23, 2007
My brother is running for office: Shultz for Carlisle. He is marrying his true love the Saturday after election day. I wish him luck on the campaign and a win! This would be icing on the already beautiful cake.
Oh Lord won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz October 19, 2007
So I am the proud owner of a red JEEP Cherokee that has many issues. For one it randomly will or will not open it’s windows. The trunk was mended with bond that was very heavy so we’d have to replace the entire piece to correct the fact that it tries to decapitate you each time you open it. The least of it’s issues is the A/C doesn’t work. Well TODAY it started hurling dark foam pieces at me that I initially thought were bugs. I veered to the side of the road screaming to my kids cover you eyes and keep your mouth shut (I don’t know… I thought the bugs would attack these areas) but when I stopped with all intentions of abandoning the piece of crap I inspected tha large man eating spider on my leg to find it was a piece of foam. So I get to my destination and run inside as it is pouring rain-come out-I had left the lights on. Still I blame this on the automobile as I am certain he is posessed and just to toy with me decided to turn them on himself and almost entirely drain my battery. My vehicle and I we have never been friends and doubt we ever will be…I have named him but I can’t tell ya what I call him-it isn’t very nice.

With so many pets homeless I just don’t get this…I don’t watch Ellen that often but happened to catch this story on her show yesterday. Ellen was reduced to tears as she clearly didn’t thoroughly read a paper she signed that stated if she couldn’t keep the dog she had to turn the dog back over to the shelter. I am certain there had to be another way around it like going out to the home of the new family, inspecting it and doing the paperwork with them instead of breaking a little girls heart and keeping a dog homeless. Rules are rules but they still could have been followed in another way and SOME rules are meant to be bent.
Oh Baby! October 14, 2007
This week I found out I am going to be a “Great” Aunt (literally.) My first thought was yay baby’s are always a blessing. A few minutes later I was like WOW that makes me a GREAT Aunt (literally.) Ewe. Then I thought well my Aunts are great Aunts and they certainly don’t look like they should be great Aunts and they are kick ass awesome Aunts so-it’s all good! And wow if this isn’t a time for lot’s of babies arriving in my family-last October my nephew was born, this July a new little beautiful girl 2nd cousin and December will bring another handsome little baby boy 2nd cousin for me to love. I am still hoping and praying for more babies from various family members and friends. I adore them all!
This is Just a personal observation about myself October 9, 2007
My very pretty shoes arrived today for my brother’s wedding. I did have to ask myself though why I only treat myself to such niceties only when I am obligated. If I can do it when a special occasion comes around why can’t I do it every once in a while just because I deserve it? I’ll tell ya why-for some reason I feel to guilty-I know the $ could be put to better use. However, I vow to change this to a small degree and every once in a great while indulge myself in something that to my standards is extravagant, just because-no-make that once in a while-it IS already every once in a great while. Whoever reads this-hold me to it.
Bruce! October 8, 2007
My husband and I were watching an interview with Bruce Springsteen and the reporter asked him how he felt about “people” viewing his new music as “anti-American.” My husband said that’s where the media is wrong-just because we don’t support the war doesn’t mean we don’t support the troops and does not make anyone who speaks out against the war anti-American. I completely agree. The fact that people feel free to speak their minds even if their thoughts and opinions are not popular-they are free to do it without fear or severe repercussions. How very American.
Oh Phillies October 7, 2007
It’s over-it’s so over. Sniff,sniff,sigh…
For this season anyway…well we’ll always have the 2007 Division Champs-no small feat.
A 60th Anniversary and a 6th Anniversary October 6, 2007
Last weekend we celebrated a 60th anniversary for my husband’s bar (his grandparents came from Poland and opened it) and this weekend my husband and I celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary. Time has changed a lot. For the bar when it opened in 1947 it has gone from having a separate entrance and lunch area for the ladies and from what I hear the men used to pee in the trough under the bar at that time (I can not get a real confirmation on this) to the current almost anything goes of today(except the peeing is reserved to the restrooms in modern day.) I noted the new “young” crowd. The “young” crowd that we called “young” when Joey & I started dating are now the age we were back then. What crowd does that make my husband and I now? Yikes! Is that the middle aged crowd-no way! Sure enough even in the last 6 years our lives have changed drastically with 2 young children and a house and having moved 3 or 4 times. I am sure our wonderful moving crew has an accurate count on that
) Anyway-good times and with a couple parties and a wedding for my brother and his fiance coming up very soon more good times to look forward to! AND NOW I must run out and get a card for my husband-betting he hasn’t got mine yet-we’re a match made in heaven.
