To Thine Own Self Be True

A Domestic Goddess’ Sporadic, No Rhyme, No Reason Ramblings

From one extreme thought to another September 29, 2007

I did a very uncharacteristic thing today and bought a Christmas gift. I do not think I have ever bought a Christmas gift before Thanksgiving.

I just have one other thought I am sure others would agree or may have the same thought. Persons, I am certain I do not have to name, who escaped a murder charge-shouldn’t they keep a low profile? Not that I wouldn’t like to see the alleged murderer incarcerated but seriously can’tchya contain yourself?

The Little Things September 27, 2007

I just got a note from someone that this little thing I do that I don’t really think about, makes her smile. Knowing I made her smile made me smile. What a nice little pick me up. I always say it’s the little things that mean the most.

I would Like to know… September 26, 2007

where the cops are when the moron pig headed a-hole makes a left in front of me causing me to jam on my breaks so hard I come to a screeching halt only inches away from him, causing my water bottle to fly up and hit me in the arm-’cause they sure as hell are there when I don’t quite make a complete stop at a stop sign when there are absolutely NO cars approaching because it’s the middle of the night and they are sure there when when my husband goes over the limit a bit-WHERE are they when there are real alarming idiots causing real danger?! Where are they then huh?

Let’s Dance September 25, 2007

Filed under: Things that make you go hmmm... — hlzysk @ 4:48 am

We took the summer off from my daughter’s dance/gymnastics classes. We returned a couple weeks ago to find not one familiar face in the teaching team. Which wouldn’t be so bad but they have not found a replacement for the dance teacher. It was the perfect combo class 30 minutes dance 30 minutes gymnastics. Exactly what we were looking for…so I did make the 1st payment in hopes they find a dance teacher soon but I am thinking she will probably take the gymnastics there and we will look into dance at another studio…my daughter is certain her old teacher, whom she absolutely adored, will return when the snow arrives. She is also certain that her old teacher misses her as much as she misses her teacher. This part breaks my heart BUT it is a life lesson for her(eesh life lessons at the age of 5!)-things change we must move with the flow. Actually, I am so proud of how well she is doing adapting to all the new teachers. I am so curious though what caused this complete change at this place-it sort of makes me wonder that all the teachers left…anyway it is still great fun for her there and her cartwheel is near perfection now. So, anyone out there know of a dance teacher in need of work??

This one’s for my Pop-pop September 22, 2007

It has been 9 years and not a day goes by I don’t think about you…all night working last night I was humming your favorite tune and thinking about favorite memories:

A long time ago
A million years BC
The best things in life
Were absolutely free.
But no one appreciated
A sky that was always blue.
And no one congratulated
A moon that was always new.
So it was planned that they would vanish now and them
And you must pay before you get them back again.
That’s what storms were made for
And you shouldn’t be afraid for
Every time it rains it rains
Pennies from heaven.
Don’t you know each cloud contains
Pennies from heaven.
You’ll find yor fortune falling
All over town.
Be sure that your umbrella is upside down.
Trade them for a package of sunshine and flowers.
If you want the things you love
You must have showers.
So when you hear it thunder
Don’t run under a tree.
There’ll be pennies from heaven for you and me

I think the words say it all. I know you are taking care of everyone up there I hope I am doing half as good of a job here on earth.

Ok ok Kacey and Elle I’ll play too…

You’re Watership Down!
by Richard Adams Though many think of you as a bit young, even childish, you’re
actually incredibly deep and complex. You show people the need to rethink their
assumptions, and confront them on everything from how they think to where they
build their houses. You might be one of the greatest people of all time. You’d
be recognized as such if you weren’t always talking about talking rabbits.

Take the Book Quiz
at the Blue Pyramid.
You can play too at: http://bluepyramid.org/ia/bquiz.htm

Whew that was a lot of copy/paste insert linking this AM…somebody pour me a cup o’ coffee!

Incidentally I HATE the animated nightmare of a movie they made out of this book-I never read the story but it’s creepy! I’m not creepy :o ( I am however unique.       :o )

This one is RATED R (due to unsavory language)

We are Family September 17, 2007

Filed under: Family — hlzysk @ 9:46 pm

I just have to say today-I have the most awesome family(when I say family I extend that to my friends I consider part of my family.) Somehow, although our lives have all changed so very much over the years, we still seem to get it together to celebrate each other  several times a year-we do group them now (we sang happy Birthday to 6 different people yesterday) but it totally rocks that there are few absences at these parties. There are so many things going on right now to celebrate we are actually booked most weekends through November and I love it!

It’s all in my Head at least I think it is… September 14, 2007

Filed under: Story Time — hlzysk @ 9:18 am

I like to make up stories in my head about people that I really do not know or are complete strangers. They are far fetched but amusing to me (and a bit juvenile.) There is a person I work with that I have MADE UP a couple of stories about. One is they fled their former place of residence as a felon of the most evil nature-the other is they are an enemy spy. The other night said person was rifling through the utensil drawer for a decent bit of time (I am sure no one else really noticed.) Let’s just say this was making me a tad nervous that perhaps I was right on either count and said person was choosing the proper weapon. Yeh I know what your thinking-but it makes an otherwise usually mindless job a little more interesting.

3 In Custody In Kutztown University Student’s Beating September 10, 2007

Filed under: Reasons I hate the news — hlzysk @ 11:42 am

I prefer to be ignorant to the news but like watching an accident happen, sometimes I just can’t help but watch. This incident, this random act of violence  just makes me ill. Kutztown and Bucks are both pretty quiet towns (Kutz I am betting more so than Bucks.) Terrible things have happened in Bucks but not frequently. This killing, all killings, are just awful and one of the reasons I hate to watch the news. To kill just because you feel like it…I am not a big fan of the death penalty but I just know if this boy was a relative of mine I would be calling for it.  Guess that’s why we have the system we do-everyone gets a fair trial-sometimes just doesn’t seem fair.
